Interaction Walkthrough

Project overview

This is the Storyline interaction embedded within Ethical and Inclusive AI in Online Course Design. It appears in two contexts: inside that case study as part of a larger learning experience, and independently here as evidence of custom Storyline development.

Audience

Instructors and instructional designers making decisions about AI use in their own course design.

Learning need

The surrounding lesson asks learners to weigh competing considerations. Reading about trade-offs is not the same as making one and seeing where it leads.

Instructional design rationale

This interaction demonstrates my use of Storyline when an instructional objective requires decision-making beyond what a standard Rise interaction can provide. The branching structure allows learners to make choices and experience resulting paths or consequences, creating active judgment practice rather than passive content review.

The tool followed the learning need — not the other way around.

Design decisions

Branching used to show consequence, not to add length
Each path exists because it represents a decision a real instructor could plausibly make.
Storyline embedded inside Rise rather than replacing it
Rise remained the right responsive environment for the course; only this objective needed a custom interaction.
Feedback written as consequence rather than verdict
Learners see what follows from the choice, which supports judgment better than a right/wrong marker.

What this project demonstrates

  • Custom Storyline 360 interaction development
  • Branching structure and decision practice
  • Selecting an authoring tool based on the objective
